Katie Buckley
Katie Buckley is currently the principal harpist with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra. She began studying harp at the age of 8 in Atlanta, Georgia. Katie received her Bachelor of Music degree and Master of Music degree as well as a Performer’s Certificate at Eastman School of Music. Katie is also a founding member of Duo Harpverk, a harp and percussion duo with percussionist Frank Aarnink.
Duo Harpverk has recorded two albums and has worked with many Icelandic and foreign composers. They premiered Stewart Copeland’s Poltroons in Paradise with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra in 2015. To date, they have commissioned over 100 works for their instrument combination.
Outside of Duo Harpverk and the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, Katie also has recorded extensively in the Icelandic Music scene. In the summer of 2018, she toured with Björk on the Utopia tour and she was also a part of the 2019 Cornucopia tour.
